Several clinical studies have shown the benefit of dancing for people with Parkinson’s disease. Many dancers in Parkinson’s disease dance programs report improved balance, range of motion and confidence. While neither prior dance experience nor a partner are necessary, care partners are invited and encouraged to participate.
Yes…I Can (!) DanceTM
Yes…I Can (!) Dance (YICD) is based on the nationally-recognized program, Dance For PD, developed by the Mark Morris dance group in Brooklyn, NY. YICD uses the creative and artistic power of dance to engage clients in exploring movement possibilities. Participants experience dance in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating and unique. In the process, stretching, muscle strengthening, balance and coordination are improved through this program.
