“‘What’s Cookin’ Girlfriend?”
Trish Adler (pictured center), a very dear friend of InMotion board director Karen Hess (pictured right), graciously opened her home one evening in early February to host “What’s Cookin’ Girlfriend” – an evening of cooking, socializing, and introducing friends of Parkinson’s to InMotion.
Bruce Sternberg, of Around Downtown Catering, kicked off the evening with a cooking demonstration of his delicious Garden Vegetable Chowder. The guests, all wearing vintage aprons in the spirit of the evening, enjoyed the dish and a selection of appetizers, wine, and desserts donated through Bruce, throughout the evening.
Following the cooking demonstration, guests watched a video about InMotion and heard from Ben Rossi, InMotion Founder and Program Director; Dr. Karen Jaffe (pictured left), InMotion Founder and Board Director; and Sharon Roth, President of Parkinson’s Pals. Ben and Karen shared how InMotion is not only changing the way people with PD in NE Ohio can vastly improve how they are managing living with the disease, but also explained how InMotion is gaining attention nationally, and internationally, through the development of this unprecedented community. Sharon shared her personal journey of living with her father who was diagnosed with PD more than 20 years ago when her family felt isolated in his care and how InMotion is now making a significant difference in helping families.
Guests were also invited to shop throughout the evening for blankets and scarves from LA’s Cozy Faux and for cashmere wraps and ponchos, with a generous portion of the sales going to InMotion.
A big thanks to all who participated and helped make this event such a success! In addition to the awareness created that night for InMotion, nearly $3,000 was raised in outright donations and proceeds. If you would like a copy of Bruce’s chowder recipe, please stop by the office.
