We are thrilled to share that InMotion and Parkinson’s Pals have merged as of May 8, 2018. After more than three years of collaboration, our organizations have officially joined together to help serve the growing needs of people living with Parkinson’s disease.
Established in 2011 as a grass-roots non-profit organization to raise awareness and funds for research to help find a cure for PD, Parkinson’s Pals held an annual fundraiser and distributed funds to The Michael J. Fox Foundation and several local community research programs. Parkinson’s Pals also gave InMotion seed money to help it open its doors in 2015 to an unprecedented wellness center providing exercise, education and healing arts free of charge to people with Parkinson’s disease in a supportive, caring community. The relationship between our organizations flourished, with many Parkinson’s Pals members becoming active at InMotion as volunteers and as a board member, and Parkinson’s Pals continued to provide financial grant support to InMotion. Now a nearly one million dollar organization serving almost 1,100 clients and carepartners, InMotion continues to strive to improve the quality of life of everyone touched by Parkinson’s.
In September 2017, together our organizations sponsored “Pals In Motion,” a family fitness event which attracted more than 1,500 participants and raised over $180,000 in net proceeds. This joint fundraiser exemplified our organizations’ “win-win” relationship.
Following our merger, three members of Parkinson’s Pals’ board of directors have joined InMotion’s board, and many other Parkinson’s Pals members have joined InMotion’s volunteer team and committees. Stronger together, we are confident that our rich history and newly blended relationship will enable InMotion to continue improving and expanding upon the excellent services for people living with PD and their families, all at no cost to them.
We appreciate your continued support of our Parkinson’s community. The “Pals In Motion” walk/run event is slated again this year at Orange High School on September 16, 2018, teams are already forming, and as you hear more about this important day, we hope you will choose to participate.
