Several clinical studies have shown the benefit of movement for people with Parkinson’s disease. Many participants in Parkinson’s movement programs report improved balance, range of motion, and confidence. While a partner is not necessary, care partners are invited and encouraged to participate.

Yes, I Can Move!TM
Yes, I Can Move! (YICM) is based on the nationally-recognized Dance for PD® program, developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and Brooklyn Parkinson Group in Brooklyn, NY. YICM uses the creative and artistic power of movement to engage clients in exploring a wide range of movements and sequences that:
- Increase range of motion and movement possibilities
- Stretch and strengthen muscles
- Improve balance and coordination
- Stimulate cognitive function
- Explore individual expression and creativity
- Promote social interaction and create an exciting group dynamic
Participants experience movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating and unique.
Instructor Joan Meggitt is a Teaching Member of Dance for PD® and has taught dance and movement for over three decades, with a focus on functional and expressive movement potential.
