Our support groups address the needs of two kinds of people: those diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (clients), and those who are in some way connected to people with Parkinson’s (care partners).
Client support groups meet weekly over a period of eight consecutive weeks in closed-door sessions that are comprised of 8 to 10 participants. When clients join and broaden the circle, certified facilitators impart proven approaches to overcome the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Care partner support groups meet weekly, and are comprised of 8 to 10 participants. Friends, family and loved ones are given new tools that empower them to support those dealing with the challenges of Parkinson’s disease. Certified facilitators lead the sessions and help care partners cope with their own feelings.
InMotion also hosts monthly PD Cafés. PD Cafés are small, informal discussion groups designed to help clients, and care partners, connect and share with others in the same situation. They are meant to facilitate knowledge, as well as to provide support. Topics include: adjusting to Parkinson’s, physical changes, nutrition, cognitive changes, sleep, emotions, and communication. PD Cafés meet once a month. Please check the class schedule each month for date/time of future sessions.
